About the artist
Desperate to explore the world beyond his hometown of Gävle, Sweden, Teklan moved to Stockholm in his early twenties, where he gradually built his creative career. Originally educated in architecture, she turned to architectural photography, incorporating her keen sense of spatial dynamics and design aesthetics. Today, she defines herself as a “color artist.”
“For me, exploring color is a lifelong journey. I am endlessly drawn to the intense but elusive qualities of color - they are always changing, never static, always defined by their environment. It's this fascination that drives me to continually explore new color relationships, combinations, and emotions,” she explains.
Combining her expertise in interior design with a passion for the essence of color, Teklan creates immersive, vibrant pieces and spaces that challenge traditional perceptions of color and design.
Playful and bold design
Fascinated by the tactile experience of materials and finishes - from luxurious fabrics to dyed wood and stucco textures - Teklan curates spaces and paintings to create a warm and stylish atmosphere.
“I enjoy unexpected combinations and often try to juxtapose the elements in a playful and bold way to create an engaging and dynamic mix and match,” Teklan says.
She enjoys exploring the interplay between geometry and color, and the delicate balance between free expression and structural design. Inspired by everyday moments, the dynamics of light, and the influence of Bauhaus and Memphis styles, it finally presents a surreal visual language that invites viewers to see the world in a whole new light.
