One of his most famous works is Composition with Red, which represents a high point of his geometric abstraction. Horizontal and vertical black lines divide the surface into rectangles of different sizes, some filled with primary colors such as red, yellow and blue. This reduced formal language became Mondrian's signature and had a profound influence on art in the second half of the twentieth century.

About the artist
Piet Mondrian (March 7, 1872 - February 1, 1944) was a Dutch painter known as one of the most important abstract artists of the 20th century. He was one of the founding members of the De Stijl movement, which emphasized geometric forms of art and purely abstract expression.
Mondrian's early works were influenced by naturalism and impressionism, but at the beginning of the 20th century he began to move in the direction of abstract art. He gradually abandoned the depiction of nature and instead used horizontal and vertical straight lines, as well as basic geometric shapes and primary colors, to express his pursuit of form and balance.
