Artist: Moe Nakamura
Born in Tokyo in 1988, Moe Nakamura graduated from the graduate school of Joshibi University of Art and Design in 2012. An emerging force in contemporary Japanese art, she has brought a soothing sensibility to Tokyo's art scene. Her work centers on warmly tactile wooden figures, most of which retain the tool marks of carving. Playful and quietly humorous yet comforting, their charming forms avoid cliché or exaggeration. An atmosphere of innocence and stillness draws viewers into an enchanting, fairy-tale world. She is active in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and other Asian art centers.
