About the production steps of the protein imaging method:
1. Making salt: Photographer Kino Koike will extract seawater from his hometown of Hokkaido and Hakodate, and then boil it for about two hours to extract salt.
2. Protein solution: Extract the part of the protein from the egg, add salt and a small amount of vinegar until it is completely mixed, place the clean protein solution filtered after overnight, pour the protein solution on the paper, wait for it to dry, and make "chicken egg paper"
3. Make photo-sensitive paper: Pour a layer of silver nitrate solution over the "chicken egg paper" so that it can be sensitive to light.
4. Exposure: Place the digital negative of the image on the paper, hold it with glass up and down, and use sunlight or ultraviolet exposure equipment to obtain an exposed photo.
5. Imaging: Soak the photo paper in water for 10 minutes, soak the gold chloride solution for 5 minutes so that the photo paper does not fade, rinse for 5 minutes, use a finishing agent, repeat twice, rinse in a foamer for one hour, dry and flatten.
The photographer makes his own sea salt.
Do the work of smearing the protein mixed with salt on the paper. This dried protein paper is coated with silver nitrate to create a photosensitive printing paper, known as "chicken egg paper". Since silver nitrate must be exposed within 1 hour, it must be exposed in the darkroom within 1 hour after the application of silver nitrate, which is usually done before printing.
