About the artist
Kim Lim (1936-1997)
is a Chinese-Singaporean British sculptor and printmaker. She is best known for creating abstract wood and stone sculptures, exploring the relationship between art and nature, while also developing her works on paper in the process of creating sculptures. Jinlin's focus on curves, lines, and surface details made her a representative of minimalism.
Jin Lin's work is full of simple lines and geometric shapes, inspired by Eastern philosophical and natural forms, and blends Western modernist styles. Her sculptures often use materials such as marble, bronze, and metal, and are perfectly balanced and proportionate in size.
Jinlin's prints are also eye-catching, and her printmaking style is unique, using simple shapes and colors to convey rich moods and emotions. Her prints are often engraved and printed by hand, and are loved by collectors and art lovers alike.
Kim's work is very popular in the international art market and is widely exhibited and collected in many important art galleries and galleries, including the Tate Modern in the UK, the National Gallery in Singapore, etc. Her work not only reflects her pursuit of art and creativity, but also highlights the blend and symbiosis of Eastern and Western cultures.
