About the artist
Juan Miró was one of the most prestigious Spanish artists of the 20th century, and throughout his long and prolific career he was passionate about interpreting everyday objects and discovering their poetic underpinnings. His lifelong ambition was to connect art to life, and with his unique insight he found poetic qualities in the most obscure objects of everyday life.
Miró's stars, the moon and the sun, are considered to be the classics of abstract painting and his most famous painting style, but in fact Miró is deeply influenced by Cubism, Surrealism, and even Dadaism. He was determined to merge poetry and painting into one, to revolutionize the traditional art world of painting, and even once said, “I want to assassinate painting!”
