THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE ART
Lucrecia Rey Caro
1 WORK
Living in Córdoba, Argentina, artist Lucrecia Rey Caro is never far from either bustling city life or the tranquility of the mountains. The mountains in particular offer an escape where Lucrecia seeks fresh air and peace on weekends: “On weekends, I find a lot of calm. I have my daily rituals: music, meditation, solitude, and nature. They are great allies when I create.”
In Lucrezia’s work, sensory experience is a connecting thread throughout. From patterns and colors to materials, her choices are grounded in the senses: “I don’t like to think about artworks in advance; they just happen. In that sense, many of my works are about me, but also about the moment in which they are created.”
Her enduring curiosity has led her to work not only with traditional paper and canvas but also in sculpture, ceramics, carving, and woodworking.
Another clear theme in Lucrezia’s work is a sense of history. “Our ancestors, Indigenous tribes, symbolism, ancient cultures. I’m fascinated by them,” she says.
Many of Lucrezia’s artworks use neutral tones, with darker shades providing contrast. Her dream is to continue expressing herself through her art—to share it with the world and pay tribute to other people’s homes.
“I’m moved when people connect with some of my artworks, or when a work brings back memories of their childhood, life, or culture. When that happens, I’ve given someone not only something beautiful, but also a deeper sense of connection.”
