Title: On a Windy Day, I Thought It Was a Stone Artwork medium: Copperplate etching Year created: 2025
Edition: 20 in total, signed by the artist. This series is titled On a Windy Day.
By depicting grassland in its many different forms, I express a sense of distance, perspective, and varying weather conditions. At first glance, each work seems to exist independently, but the arrangement of the images and the connections between their patterns create the impression that they all come from the same stretch of grassland. At the same time, the slightly abstract images evoke a sense of ambiguity, haziness, and uncertainty. To me, creating art is like moving back and forth through a contradictory gray area.
Oscillating between figuration and abstraction, creating softness within hardness, and wandering between sky and earth. Even with uncertainty always present, a certain consistency can still be felt, which I find fascinating. I think this is precisely the romance of art, and the romance I aspire to.
I first became interested in grass because I was drawn to one of its qualities: on a grassy surface, whatever object is placed there or whatever happens seems somehow reasonable and acceptable. Recently, I've gradually come to realize that this quality may be connected to the “gray areas” and “distance” I repeatedly contemplate in my work.
From a distance, the grass looks like a soft blanket, especially on windy days. Up close, or when walking through it, however, it feels prickly and may even cause injury in some cases.
Paper size: 280(H) x 265 mm Image dimensions: 230 x 190 mm Dimensions including mounting and frame: 400 x 400mm * Please message us to discuss any other ideas.
Mounting method: basic mounting + mat board (a window mat is placed in front of the work, covering approximately 2mm along one edge of the paper so that only part of the paper is visible)
* The artwork will be mounted flat on a backing board to prevent it from warping due to moisture.
* If you upgrade to acid-free mat board, acid-free adhesive dots will be used to hold the print in place; it can still be separated from the backing board and removed.

The work often inhabits the gray area of contradictions between imagery and the language of materials, constantly moving back and forth between figuration and abstraction, creating softness within hardness, and lingering between sky and earth.
