This series is titled On a Windy Day.
By depicting grassland in different forms, I explore a sense of distance, perspective and changing weather. At first glance, each work seems independent, yet the connections between the compositions and patterns suggest that they come from the same patch of grassland. Their slightly abstract imagery also creates an ambiguous, blurred and uncertain feeling. To me, making art is like moving back and forth through contradictory gray areas.
I move between representation and abstraction, create softness within hardness, and wander between sky and earth. Although uncertainty is always present, a certain consistency can still be felt, which I find fascinating. I believe this is the romance of art, and the kind of romance I long for.
My interest in grassland began with a particular quality that attracted me: whatever is placed there, or whatever happens there, seems reasonable and acceptable. Recently, I have come to realize that this quality may be connected to the gray areas and distance that I repeatedly consider in my work.
From a distance, grassland looks like a soft blanket, especially on windy days. But when you approach or step into it, it can feel prickly and may even cause injury in some circumstances.

Artist Introduction/Wang, Wen-Ling
Creativity walks in the gray areas of contradiction between image and media vocabulary, always pulling back and forth between figurative and abstract, creating softness in the hard, and wandering between the sky and the earth.
The medium is mostly etching with copper plates, and her works are good at expressing the layers of "fine, atomized, and tactile".
