About the artist
Mayumi Yamase
Born in Tokyo, he spent his childhood in the United States and moved to the United Kingdom after graduating from high school. He graduated in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Arts and Design, University of the Arts London. He currently lives in Tokyo. Working primarily with the contrast between reality (the body) and intangible fantasy and imagination, he creates abstract paintings and soft sculptures. To date, he has exhibited in Tokyo, London, and Singapore, and collaborated with numerous companies, including creating artwork for Comme des Garçons and supplying work for BEAMS T.
Mayumi Yamase studied fine art at the University of the Arts London and now lives in Tokyo, working across diverse contexts. She focuses on things that cannot be seen with the naked eye but nevertheless exist, exploring them through abstract paintings and soft sculptures. Freely changing colors and forms express the primal life contained within them.
