Product details
Artist: Kim Lim (1936–1997)
She is a Chinese-Singaporean British sculptor and printmaker. She is best known for creating abstract sculptures in wood and stone that explore the relationship between art and nature. She also developed her works on paper through the process of making sculpture. Kim Lim's attention to curves, lines, and surface details made her a representative figure of Minimalism.
Jin Lin’s work is filled with spare lines and geometric shapes, drawing inspiration from Eastern philosophy and natural forms while incorporating the style of Western modernism. Her sculptures often use materials such as marble, bronze, and metal, and display an exceptional sense of balance and beauty of proportion in their dimensions.
Jin Lin’s prints are equally striking. Her distinctive printmaking style uses simple shapes and colors to convey rich imagery and emotion. Her prints often employ hand-carved blocks and printing techniques, and are much loved by collectors and art enthusiasts.
Jin Lin’s work is highly sought after in the international art market and is widely exhibited and collected by many major museums and galleries, including Tate Modern in the United Kingdom and the National Gallery in Singapore. Her work reflects not only her artistic aspirations and creativity but also the interplay and coexistence of Eastern and Western cultures.
