1. Series background. WITNESS THE DREAM is the first officially licensed limited-edition figure series by Japanese artist Toshio Saeki. Released jointly by HOW2WORK and Presspop Toy, together with its exhibition and sales venue NANZUKA, in 2022–2023, the series transforms Saeki's incisive, bold drawings into three-dimensional forms, allowing collectors to approach his distinctive aesthetic from a new perspective.
2. Design concept
The figurine faithfully recreates Toshio Saeki’s classic “nightmare” theme, combining the distorted human bodies and elements of dark allegory commonly found in his work.
HOW2WORK developed the models, precisely capturing the flow of the lines. Presspop Toy and NANZUKA applied meticulous hand-painted finishes to evoke rich layers of watercolor and ink.
3. Specifications and materials
Dimensions: Each piece is approximately 7–9 cm tall, making it easy to display.
Material: Premium cast resin (cast/resin), with crisp surface details, a solid feel, and a semi-matte baked-paint finish.
Limited edition: 100 sets worldwide. Each piece comes with a certificate personally signed by Toshio Saeki, and its edition number is engraved on the base.
4. Packaging and accessories
The figurine comes with a dedicated display case. The outer box features an illustration by Toshio Saeki and the “WITNESS THE DREAM” series logo, while a black velvet lining provides protection.
Each set includes a signed certificate and a limited-edition number sticker to ensure authenticity and collectible value.
5. Collecting and significance
As the first three-dimensional realization of Toshio Saeki’s work, this series marks a major milestone in his artistic career and exemplifies a crossover collaboration between dark art and high-end collectible figures.
