Title:
About the artist / Rini Spiel
Naturally artistic, Rini Spiel seizes every opportunity to explore creative possibilities, from ceramics and handwoven rugs to knitting and metalwork. Painting, however, is her greatest source of motivation. Building compositions through bold brushstrokes gives her an incomparable sense of fulfillment and fascination.
Her inspiration often begins with a leaf or part of a plant, which she renders meticulously in acrylic paint, bringing together detail and form to create beautiful still lifes. For Rini, these simple, tranquil subjects often hold meanings that are not immediately apparent. Although nature is her enduring source of inspiration, her artistic influences span many styles and eras, including the Wiener Werkstätte, Art Nouveau, the bold colors of Expressionism, and Baroque composition.
She is equally fascinated by craft and enjoys exploring the textures and patterns of textiles. Even the pure, unfiltered creativity of children often becomes a source of inspiration for her work.
Color and layers
Rini works primarily in acrylics but also enjoys oils and crayons, whose qualities call for an unhurried, focused state of mind. Colors emerge gradually through layers, subtly affected by the ground and the transparency of the paint. Although she loves vivid hues, she uses them with restraint, allowing olive greens and earthy natural tones to anchor the composition in the present and create a balanced, layered visual language.
