Artist: Anna Johansson

“I’m at a stage where I’m trying many new things and trying to discover where my passion lies. Right now, I find the greatest joy and satisfaction in combining acrylic paint, paper, and textiles on linen canvas. I love the mix of materials, the tactile quality, and the depth.”

Anna Johansson lives with her family in central Stockholm. She works as a creative director and designer, and uses her work as an artist to connect with herself and shut out external pressures and distractions. “Art shouldn’t be too complicated. I want to invite people into my artistic world and blur the boundaries of reality.”

She unconsciously gathers most of her inspiration throughout the day and transforms it into abstract patterns, generally using neutral or subtle colors: “I love color, but it’s hard to find the right way to use it. Sometimes I feel colors compete with the shapes and upset the balance. But I’m working on finding it.”

Home Is Where the Heart Is

For Anna, a perfect Saturday would mean enjoying freshly brewed coffee in peace: “That never happens, because a little monster dressed as a princess is constantly trying to get my attention,” she laughs. More likely, Saturday means a walk in the sunshine with her family, followed by a glass of wine and plenty of laughter with friends in the evening.

“Our home is my sanctuary,” Anna explains, emphasizing the importance of surrounding herself with things she loves to create a space of happiness and tranquility.

When asked what goals she has for herself and her career, she said, “I always focus on the things that give me energy and make me happy. To work and earn money from my creativity, and never give up or compromise.”
