Artist: Adam McEwen

Born in London, Adam McEwen lives and works in New York. Moving freely between painting, sculpture and installation, he is known for life-size graphite sculptures of familiar consumer objects, such as ATMs, water coolers and credit cards; his Bomber Harris series of monochrome paintings covered with chewing gum; and prints on sponge that combine archival and nostalgic imagery, creating an unusual blend of historical perspective and subjective feeling. His arrangements of three-dimensional objects often produce psychological unease or suggest narratives beyond the viewer's control and definition, much like montage.
