Title: MOON AND SUN
About the artist / Enikő Katalin Eged
Born in the picturesque city of Budapest, Hungary, Enikő Katalin Eged is an accomplished artist who moves fluently between traditional and contemporary media to create emotionally resonant work.
Enikő Katalin Eged's artistic journey spans diverse forms of expression.
Before entering the art world, she studied literature and philosophy, immersing herself in the depths of human thought and creativity. Enikő nevertheless honed her skills and passion for visual storytelling at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where she completed a master’s degree in graphic design. After spending a semester in Rome, she embarked on a transformative creative journey through Sicily’s enchanting landscapes.
Enikő's recent practice centers on illustration, collaborative projects and the comfort and inspiration she finds in painting ceramics. Her toolkit encompasses analog and digital media, using pastels, oil pastels, acrylics and technology to realize her vision.
The art of visual storytelling
Her creative process usually begins with an intuitive image, which she carefully records in a notebook or on her phone. From her wealth of ideas, she thoughtfully selects the projects she will pursue. Each work begins as a sketch on paper and ultimately becomes a digital masterpiece characterized by a consistent palette of bold colors, usually contrasting orange and blue tones that add depth and visual appeal to her creations.
Enikő draws inspiration from many sources, including the work of Frida Kahlo, Ilona Keserü, Judit Reigl and Baya Mahieddine. Her interests also extend to Eastern folk art, particularly abstract and floral patterns. Animals, emotions and visual storytelling recur throughout her work.
“At the heart of my creative process is the familiar idea of building connections and rekindling shared memories through art,” she notes.
