Series 1: Cinematic Abstracts
Drawing inspiration from classic films, the series transforms stories, fragments, and emotions that touch creators' heartstrings into abstract visual forms. Through geometric elements - circles that symbolize characters or complete story chapters, lines that represent memories, emotional scars, or subtle connections between characters - specific narrative outlines are blurred, inviting viewers to reinterpret these fragments in a boundless imaginary space.

Inspired by Muriel, or The Time of Return, Alain Resnais, 1963
Muri Ai is a French drama film released in 1963. The film is directed by Aaron Renai. It is the third full-length film by Renai, following “The Love of Hiroshima” and “Last Year in Marumba”, and, like these films, deals with the challenge of merging a recollected or imagined past with a life in the present. It also indirectly refers to the controversial themes of the Algerian war, which also ended recently in the film.

About the artist
Born in Taipei, Chiaoyi Chang is a multidisciplinary designer and creator. Her work is centered around the concept of “lines,” constructing visual compositions through geometric forms. By blending a designer’s structured approach with the expressive nature of freehand exploration, she investigates the relationships between imagery, the human body, and space—extending this dynamic balance of freedom and structure into her design practice.
In 2021, she was awarded the MOE Scholarship for Overseas Study in Arts and Design and pursued further studies at Musashino Art University in Japan, broadening her international artistic perspective. She earned her Master’s degree in Communication Design from Shih Chien University (SCU) in 2023. Now working as a freelance designer and creator, she continues to explore new possibilities across diverse creative fields.
