Dutch designer Bertjan Pot was born in 1975 and is currently considered one of the Netherlands’ three most representative designers of the new generation. At heart, Pot is a designer who loves experimenting with materials. His inspiration comes from microscopic studies of fibers, and he once said, “All my ideas come from experimenting with materials, whether new or old.” Pot sees his creative style as markedly different from that of Italian designers, whose design concepts are full of dramatic shifts. Yet a look at several of his works makes it easy to see that his designs have a sense of humor, too. Random Light, the lamp he developed in carbon fiber in collaboration with the Dutch design brand Moooi, rapidly brought him international recognition.
Dutch creative designer Bertjan Pot, a self-described textile enthusiast, is known for his rope masks, lamps, baskets, and rugs, which reflect his experimental techniques. His colorful signature style has led to collaborations with many well-known brands, including Cassina, Febrik, Moooi, and Nike.

Dutch designer Bertjan Pot was born in 1975 and is a prominent figure in contemporary Dutch design. His work is driven by material experimentation, particularly the study of fibers at a microscopic level. He has said that his ideas come from experimenting with materials, whether new or old. Although he distinguishes his approach from the narrative qualities of Italian design, his work also has a sense of humor. Random Light, developed with Dutch design brand Moooi using a carbon-fiber material, brought him international recognition.
